When Hugueline walked through the doors of Teach Haiti as a seven-year-old in 2nd grade, she couldn’t have known the journey that awaited her. Twelve years later, she graduated with skills, faith, and a vision — not just for herself, but for all of Haiti.
A Family Rooted in Teach Haiti
Hugueline first joined Teach Haiti in 2010 as a second grader. She wasn’t alone in that journey — her family grew alongside the school. One sister has since graduated, and two brothers are still walking the same hallways where Hugueline once sat. In many ways, Teach Haiti didn’t just educate Hugueline; it became a cornerstone of her entire family’s story.
Skills That Last a Lifetime
Graduating in 2022 after more than a decade at the school, Hugueline reflects on how deeply Teach Haiti prepared her for what came next. It wasn’t just academic knowledge — it was the practical tools for navigating the world. Communication, organization, and classroom management were among the skills she credits to her time there. These weren’t just lessons on a page; they were capabilities that shaped how she approaches every challenge in college and in her budding career.
“Teach Haiti helped me develop my communication, organization, and classroom management skills — and prepared me to better face the challenges of college and my future career.”
A Faith That Deepened and Grew
Hugueline came to Teach Haiti with faith already present in her life — but she’ll tell you it was quiet, not yet fully her own. Over the years, something shifted. Through community, service, and the values woven into the school’s culture, her faith became stronger, more personal, and more central to how she lives each day. It moved from something inherited to something she truly owns.
Giving Back to Those Around Her
Education, for Hugueline, was never meant to be kept. She sees her knowledge and skills as tools to be shared — with her neighbors, her community, and those who need a guiding hand. Her vision is straightforward and powerful: to support and educate others, to inspire positive change, and to help the people around her grow into their own potential. The student has become the teacher.
Hope for Haiti’s Future
Ask Hugueline what she hopes for Haiti, and her answer is clear-eyed and full of conviction: peace, stability, and access to education for every child. She doesn’t just dream, she acts. She plans to contribute through teaching, community work, and by being a model of what is possible when a young person is given the opportunity to learn and thrive. In her story, we see the mission of Teach Haiti made real.
“My hopes for Haiti’s future are peace, stability, and better access to education for everyone. I can contribute by using my skills to educate others, support my community, and encourage positive change.”
— Hugueline François, Class of 2022
