Élie entered Teach Haiti in 2nd grade. Today, he is a first-year Accounting student with a vision for his country that is bigger than himself.
His story is not just about education. It is about what happens when a child is given a real chance — and chooses to build on it.
A Family Rooted in Teach Haiti
Élie did not come to Teach Haiti alone. Three sisters came with him. Cousins too. Teach Haiti supported their education from early childhood all the way through graduation. That investment rippled across an entire family.
One cousin has already completed school and now works at Teach Haiti. Another is still studying there. A school that once invested in one generation is now being strengthened by the next.
At home, life was not easy. Élie’s father does not work. His mother passed away more than 13 years ago. For a family like his, education was never guaranteed — it was life-changing.
What Teach Haiti Gave Him
Élie graduated in 2024. When asked how Teach Haiti prepared him for college and life, his answer was simple:
“It gave me a good education and taught me discipline, respect, and how to work hard.”
These are not just academic lessons. They are lifelong foundations shaped through years of structure, mentorship, and consistency.
A Faith That Grew
Before Teach Haiti, Élie does not remember much about his faith. Over time — through Friday devotions, biblical teaching, and the example of leaders around him — something changed.
“My faith became stronger. I learned how to share God’s love with others and how to pray.”
For a young man who experienced early loss and uncertainty, that faith became a grounding force for his future.
A Vision for Haiti
Élie is studying Accounting, but his vision goes far beyond numbers. He dreams of building projects in transportation, education, and agro-industry. He wants to create opportunity where there is scarcity.
“I want to help develop my community and help reduce poverty in Haiti.”
These are not abstract goals. They come from someone who has lived the gap between potential and opportunity — and now wants to close it for others.
His Hope for Haiti
“My hope for Haiti is that the country becomes better, with more education, more opportunities, and less poverty. I want to help by working hard, helping others, and using what I learned at Teach Haiti to make a positive change.”
