Our Board of Directors is composed of leaders with diverse experience and a shared commitment to advancing the mission of Teach Haiti.
Chairman of the Board
Michelle Hearn serves as Chairman of the Board for Teach Haiti. Based in Texas, she is CEO of Plaidstone Homes and Founder of Bible Share. A business owner, educator, Bible teacher, and author, she brings experience in business management, strategic planning, education, and ministry leadership. She is committed to helping advance Teach Haiti's vision of transforming lives through Christian education.
Board Member
Telvin Jeffries is Office Leader for Mercer, where he leads the firm's business across North Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. He also serves as Treasurer and Compensation Chair for Convoy of Hope. With extensive executive leadership and nonprofit governance experience, Telvin is passionate about serving others through strategic leadership, financial stewardship, and faith-driven service. He is honored to support Teach Haiti's mission of bringing hope and lasting impact to the people of Haiti.
Board Member
Tina Mörch-Pierre brings more than 25 years of experience leading strategy, innovation, organizational transformation, and performance improvement initiatives across the transportation, healthcare, and technology sectors. She has built and led teams, guided organizations through complex challenges, and helped turn ideas into meaningful results. Tina is passionate about leadership development, mentoring others, and creating opportunities that help individuals and communities thrive. She proudly serves as a board member of Teach Haiti, supporting efforts to expand access to education and empower future generations.
Board Member
William Craft retired in 2023 as president of Concordia College (MN) after many years as a college professor and academic dean. Inspired by the faithful, transformational leadership of Miquette McMahon, Bill and his wife Anne have supported Teach Haiti since their arrival at Concordia, Miquette's alma mater. In retirement, Bill serves on the board of Corus International, devoted to ending poverty in the developing world, and he works in the Upstate of South Carolina with The Faith Initiative to End Child Poverty and the Spartanburg Academic Movement, which creates educational pathways for children from preschool through college.
Treasurer
Ruth Fields earned her CPA early in her career and worked for over 30 years as the CFO of a local engineering firm. She is now happily retired and volunteering as Treasurer for Teach Haiti. She is enjoying traveling, reading, and rediscovering the piano after a long hiatus.
Board Member
Bill Zink is a professional engineer with 40 years of practical engineering and leadership experience, owning and operating an engineering company in the Washington, D.C. region. He is also an active ski patroller representing the Eastern Division of the National Ski Patrol in a variety of leadership positions. The passion for his faith and ski patrol led him on a mission trip to Haiti as a first responder immediately after the earthquake in 2010. Bill and family members have made several trips to Haiti and led the design and construction of the school in St Michel. Bill lives on a farm in Virginia, is married to Natalie, and has 6 children and 7 grandchildren.
Board Member
Dr. David Jeck is a respected educational leader and strategist with more than 30 years of experience guiding schools and districts toward academic and organizational excellence. Dr. Jeck served as Superintendent of Fauquier County and Greene County Public Schools, where he led initiatives that improved graduation rates to an average of over 95%, expanded early learning access, and strengthened advanced academic programs. His leadership has been recognized with honors including Region IV Superintendent of the Year and the Governor's Award for Excellence and Innovation in Education. A former adjunct professor at George Washington University and James Madison University, Dr. Jeck continues to champion leadership development and equitable education for all students. He holds a PhD in Education from the University of Virginia, a Master of Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Bachelor of Arts from Nyack College. Dr. Jeck resides in Orlean, Va. with his wife of 36 years, Rhonda.
Vice Chairman
Nathan Pierre is a management consultant with over ten years of experience leading transformation projects for Fortune 500 companies and federal agencies. Born and raised in Haiti, he grew up in a family involved in nonprofit and education work there. Nathan has served on the Teach Haiti board since 2022, helping provide governance and oversight for two schools serving more than 680 students. He lives in Indiana with his wife.
Secretary
Ben Kilpatrick has served on the Teach Haiti Board of Directors since 2021, bringing a lifelong passion for education and student development to the organization. A native of Dallas, Texas, Ben lives there with his wife and their two sons. He earned a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University before completing a master's degree in sports administration. Over the past seventeen years, Ben has built a career as an educator, teaching history, government, and economics while also coaching basketball and mentoring young people. From 2009 to 2013, he served as a teacher and coach at Quisqueya Christian School in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where he developed close friendships with Teach Haiti founder Miquette McMahon and her husband, Art McMahon, and witnessed firsthand the transformative work of Teach Haiti's school and student sponsorship ministry. Those experiences continue to fuel his commitment to helping provide Haitian children with the education and opportunities that can transform families, communities, and future generations.
Founder and Executive Director
Miquette McMahon is a Registered Nurse, motivational speaker, a proud Rotarian, the author of The Voice Poverty Cannot Silence and most importantly, the Founder and Executive Director of Teach Haiti. Born and raised in St. Michel, Haiti, Miquette is passionate about empowering children through education and inspiring others through her story of resilience, faith, and hope. She is married to Art McMahon, and together they have three children: Max, Rex, and Raquel.
